Pieter believes in two attitudes in art: that of genius and that of genius. One you feel in your head and the other you feel in your stomach.
Pieter has worked with a lot of different materials throughout his career. Most of them are not traditional art making materials. Like rolling pins, bird nests and roof tiles.
Some people have a philosophy in life, most artist have an artistic philosophy. Pieter’s philosophy? “The way I relate to visual art is that everything is possible and permissible: no holds barred. An artwork is more than just an interpretation of an idea. The way in which you approach it and experience it is the individual responsibility of the artist and viewer alike. The more involved you are the more vulnerable you become. I know I am running certain risks by the way I am engaged in art. Being totally committed to something is never entirely without danger, is it?”
Select an artwork that you have walked passed without giving it much thought. Look at it closely and do some research into it. Was
