You don’t usually pay attention to the things you see each day. You tend to just walk past them. Mauricio shows objects in a way we are not used to. It makes us look at the details more closely so that the beauty in everyday things can be seen.
Mauricio plays with reality. He shows us everyday objects but changes them slightly. They are set up in virtually impossible situations, often in a way that makes you believe the photos must have been edited. Nothing could be further from the truth; this was not photoshopped. How do you look at the piece now?
You can see familiar fruits on almost all the plates: apples and bananas. You probably eat them often enough. But there’s a type of fruit on the bottom left plate you may not immediately recognise. Do you know what it is?
