Stargate

Fabio is an Italian sculptor who works primarily with marble.

By recreating a plastic crate out of Carrera marble Fabio transforms the banal into something special. It makes something mass produced and familiar into something handcrafted and excitingly unfamiliar.

The title of this work refers to the idea that this monumental work is can function as gateway or a portal to mystical lands and faraway galaxies. This fantasy that we have as children that any normal object become magical.

It took Fabio twelve months to complete this work.
