Guy uses old newspapers and books to make his artworks. He takes a lot of time to do his research. Guy regularly scrolls for half a day, looking for ideal pages. He structures and collects. The search for the right page is an instinctive activity. Sometimes Guy has seen a page over 100 times and then he suddenly knows it’s the page he was looking for. A certain sentence or image attracts his attention. Guy then uses the page as his canvas.
Guy plays with reality. By scratching out most of the text and images, he almost forces you to look at the image and the sentences that are still there. Your brain can’t help combining these two. And there it is, your own little story. Made possible by Guy.
From a young age this country captivated Guy.
The drawings and collages of Guy have a relatively small size, which makes viewing them an intimate experience.
What is beautiful? What is ugly? When you describe the work, does it remain beautiful/ugly or does your opinion change?
