that’s exactly what Marcel van Eeden does too. He combines historical facts and material with his own fantasy.

His year of birth is crucial to Marcel. Everything he draws, is derived from the time before his birth.  By copying these pictures the artist takes control of a period of time he did not experience himself; he bends it to his will. 

This story is made especially for the LAM. Perhaps you’ll recognize details of the Keukenhof estate and castle, our neighbors.

 Marcel was born in the Netherlands. He studied painting at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and lives and works in Zurich and The Hague.
