Look no further, you are there!
A field with lettuce, pumpkins on a dark earth. A square full of waves and shells and endless vegetable gardens: the Italian artist Piero Gilardi is famous for his natural carpets. With his natural carpets, Piero wanted to bring the pleasant experience of nature into people's homes. Brilliant, right?
You were allowed to walk, sit and lie on the first natural carpets that Piero Gilardi made. Mmmmm, how would it feel to lay your head on this soft grass carpet, with the smell of pomegranates and sweet grapes in your nose?
Funny: Piero Gilardi makes idyllic pieces of nature from foam rubber! He pours the plastic into blocks, cuts them into shapes and paints them. There is little natural about it. Many enthusiasts find the contrast between nature and the high-tech materials that Piero Gilardi uses exciting. The artist himself says that that is not what he is after. He wants to give nature a stage.
Piero Gilardi was born in Turin, Italy, the city of Fiat and Alfa Romeo.
Yes, literally with those natural carpets, but also figuratively. Piero Gilardi was averse to the art world, especially at the beginning of his career. Is art sacred? Come on! As far as he's concerned, you should not buy art in a chic gallery, but simply in a department store such as HEMA or Wallmart.
Note that many old paintings show pomegranates. They symbolize abundance (a lot of seeds!), inspiration, innocence, fertility and connection. What meaning would you like to see in it? Could you use a portion of one or the other?
Pomegranates are hot among foodies. They are packed with minerals. And they are good for your heart, nerves and muscles.
The artworks next to this colorful piece of nature are subdued, black and white and 2D. Yet they fit perfectly with the artwork of Piero Gilardi. Can you see what fruit is being picked?
You will find a lot of vitamin C in this room. You have already found the pomegranates and grapes. Search a little further and you will also find a lemon, pear and apples. And oh, that's not even counting all the fruit from the video artwork on this wall!
Imagine this artwork in your house. Where would you place it or hang it?
