Fruit Machine

Maybe you guessed it already by looking at the title of this work and what happens on the screens. This work is a play on a fruit machine. You might know then from casino’s. You throw money in them, pull a lever and when four of the same fruit come on the screen you win.

In this video you can observe people eating. Have you ever thought about how weird that looks? Can you imagine eating in front of a camera like these teens had to do? You might burst out laughing or get a little shy.

Fallen Fruit is a collaboration of two American artists, David Burns and Austin Young. The two started the project in 2004. They make art installations, public art and plant fruit trees in public spaces for everyone to share.
