Sense of smell

When you get to use all of you senses to experience something you usually remember it better. But when looking at art you usually only get to use your eyes. But when experiencing this artwork your nose is just as important. Take a moment to smell this artwork. What does it smell like? Do you like the smell?

Crochet

This little dish was made completely by hand. First Regula made the shape of the dish by crocheting copper wire. Then she fastened the mace leaves to it one by one. Look at the sides of this artwork, you can see the crocheting. Can you image how difficult it must have been to fasten each individual leaf to the copper wire? How long do you think it would take you to make something like this?

Regula’s life

Regula was born in Switzerland. She went to the textile academy in Bern. In 1983 she came over to the Netherlands to study at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. After that she went on to study at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht. She currently lives and works in the Netherlands. Besides her own work as an artist, she inspires a new generation of artists through her work as a teacher.
